Back from IGC2007
15 10 2007Greetings!
The video streaming from IGC2007 in Eugene was mostly a success. We had a few network outages at the conference centre and some silly folks causing IP address conflicts, but overall the stream maintained its integrity. We were able to show nearly all of the presentations and round tables, and even carried the world premiere of Jeff Tunnel’s band, The Procrastinators, on Wednesday night.
At its peak there were 117 developers tuning in on Wednesday afternoon. That’s not bad considering the video stream was only announced at 2:00am Wednesday morning in my GarageGames blog.
The terrific people at Ustream.tv were in contact with me during the event to make sure that everything was going smoothly at their end. They even provided me with a beta version of their software that greatly improved the video and audio quality of the stream. I tested this on Tuesday during a private, Associates only screening where those attending noticed quite a difference, especially in the audio.
All of the presentations were recorded to video tape and the folks at GarageGames are determining how to best get this on the Internet. I’ll be sure to let you know when and where you can get your hands on this.
